Video: Ms Harriet Rumgay on alcohol consumption and cancer

In a new video, Ms Harriet Rumgay, a researcher in the Cancer Surveillance Branch at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the lead author of an article about the impact of alcohol consumption on the global burden of cancer, presents the main findings of the study and calls for effective policies to increase public awareness of the risks of alcohol consumption and to reduce the burden of cancers caused by alcohol consumption.

An estimated 741 000 new cases of cancer in 2020 were associated with alcohol consumption globally. About three quarters of these cancers occurred in men.
